I want to use Kermit as telnet client with TCPPORT.EXE from WATTCP as
redirector. In this case, TCPPORT handles the whole TCP/IP stuff and
Kermit only does the terminal emulation - mine does it obviously
incorrect.
> Translation: your link requires a PPP connection. Fine.
After CarrierDetect the terminal server waits for about 15 seconds to
get a PAP handshake via LCP; if this fails I automaticly get a shell
account, and from this point on there is no way to establish a PPP
connect. For this reason I can't dial in with Kermit and then start
PPP as it is described in msk315.doc.

Fine! On my site ETHERPPP causes stout trouble doing PAP handshake
when userid and password are transmitted by the config.ppp file.

Yepp, but - as far as I see - only when Kermit itself handles the
TCP/IP stuff (see above).
I've got telnet run using another terminal program and it works fine;
so why Kermit doesn't? It's too bad about that, because I like Kermit
very much ...
Bye, Thomas.
